Bird Life in June

Yearlings are screaming

Among many: Gulls, crows, sparrows

Occasional woodpecker hammering

My ears receive many blows

First time ever

Heard in my neighborhood

Bird populations aren’t forever

Parrots left; cuckoos came; not for good

Summer has come

Once we hear the cuckoo

And the pheasant’s scream too

Each season its own drum

I heard good & bad
Or is strange a better name
Dutch contributions were bad
This year no need for shame
