The Scariest Thing You Will Ever Do As A Writer

Thanks for sharing, @D

Susan Kiernan-Lewis

There is a skill set that, when mastered, will not only help you reap significantly better results in book sales over the long haul, but will vastly increase your self concept and confidence and is something that fewer than .05% of the population can do.

As a writer, it is possible that the percentages of comfortable, accomplished speakers in your group are even smaller than .05%. Writers tend to be shy types, happy to hole up in remote cabins and drafty guestrooms, turning down social invitations in favor of a laptop and a bottomless cup of coffee. Which makes the benefits that much…

Australians celebrate Australia Day today, 26th January, the anniversary of the arrival of the First Fleet in Sydney Cove in 1788. It is a public holiday, and a time to celebrate all things Australian.

We have had heavy rain this week and several official parties have been cancelled, but people will no doubt be throwing a chop on the barbecue and having a cool drink.

Brisbane is a modern colourful city. Here is a little bit of Australia for those of you who live elsewhere.

Life and Laughter

I spend a LOT of time writing. Whether it’s my Life and Laughter column, an article for a magazine or newspaper, a press release or this witty blog, I’m ALWAYS trying to come up with interesting topics, fun words, brilliant sentences, blah, blah, blah. Writer’s Block.  For some reason, the voices in my head have gone silent.

So I type anything. Lalalalalalalalalalalalala. UMMMMMMMMMMMMM. Peri is cool. I want chocolate. Must quit my writing job. Goats are people, too. This grapefruit is fascinating. Etc, etc, etc.  Blah, blah, blah.

Doesn’t usually help.

But I’ve found some things that will get those creative writing juices flowing again:
